Museum Quality Framing

Museum Quality Framing

This is one of two final projects. This one I had two weeks to complete, working between the hours of 8am and 1pm M-F. I don’t know how many hours I actually worked on this, but those are the hours I was allowed and I did not go over. The painting is a copy of Paul Klee’s "Battle Scene from the Comic Opera ‘The Seafarer’" and I finished it within the first week, using only cocoa butter melted in a painter’s palette and mixed with powdered food colors. The frame is made from pastillage with royal icing detail, painted with gold luster dust and powdered food colors. The easel is made from rye dough. All the materials had to be edible (in theory) but the concept was entirely my own. The other of the two final projects can be seen here .
